Board Administrator Job Posting

Exciting opportunity for a community-minded, self-starter to support a neighborhood nonprofit! This position is a hybrid, flexible role for someone with excellent communication skills and a passion for organization. A successful Board Administrator will foster strong relationships with Board members and community partners, maintain up-to-date records, and seamlessly move between the role’s many facets. They will be critical to helping SENA achieve its goals and stay true to its mission. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Board Administrator is responsible for guiding the volunteer Board by providing operational and outreach support in the following categories:

Communications & Public Relations
Serve as spokesperson and primary point of contact for the association, managing and responding to communications in a timely and appropriate manner 
Maintain SENA website, calendars, social media pages, print materials, marketing and PR campaigns 
Assist with digital newsletters, mailings, social media posts, and other communication work as directed

Financial & Compliance
Support SENA’s good financial standing and ensure compliance with SENA’s Financial Management Policy and procedures
Maintain and safeguard SENA’s bank accounts, assets, accounting system, and records
Assist in preparing and maintaining annual and project budgets  
Along with the Treasurer and Accountant, ensure SENA’s compliance with tax, contractual, City of Minneapolis Funding, 501c3 and other requirements
Support SENA’s fundraising efforts, including by seeking governmental, grant, and charitable opportunities
Ensure SENA’s bylaws, policies and procedures are up-to-date and enforced  

Board & Committee Support
Attend monthly Board meetings (usually 7pm the second Monday of every month) and other meetings and events as directed by the Board
Work with the Board President, committee chairs, and staff to develop committee meeting agendas, budgets, goals and program work plans
Publish meeting notices, materials and minutes to the SENA community
Compose and present monthly staff report to keep the Board abreast of primary accomplishments, organizational updates, and challenges requiring Board support
Manage remote office operations by, among other things, securing and managing SENA’s physical and electronic property, transporting items as directed by the Board, and inventorying and restocking items as necessary 

Partnership Development
Support SENA programs, projects, and events as directed by the Board 
Ensure timely and appropriate communication between community partners, the Board, its committees, and the SENA community
These duties are illustrative and not intended to be exclusive. The expectation is for any other duties to be performed as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Passion for building community
Problem solver with excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational and time management skills 
Thrives working both independently and interdependently with a team
Personable and exhibits emotional maturity when working with strong personalities 
General understanding of basic accounting principles
Strong computer skills including on Zoom, Google Suite, and Adobe 
Ability to work with diverse populations

Experience
GED/High School/Life Equivalent
Experience with Wix, MailChimp, and Meta strongly preferred 
Understanding of/experience with nonprofit organizations helpful
Connection to Standish-Ericsson neighborhood ideal 

Work Conditions
Flexible, remote office hours and some in-person meetings and events
Part-time schedule of 18-25 hours per week, with some mandatory weekend and evening hours
Occasional lifting of 25 pounds or less 
Reports to SENA Board of Directors’ Executive Committee
$21 per hour, PTO, opportunities for professional development
