There is going to be a new Lund’s and Byerly’s in our neighborhood and project managers are calling on artists connected with our area to work with them.
The building we’re talking about is the new mixed-use building going in on Longfellow Ave and E. Minnehaha Pkwy. It will feature the grocery store on the first floor, with three floors of apartments above.
Building developers are partnering with local public art organization, Forecast, to make the call for artists.
In the call for artists, Forecast says they want to highlight artists in the community. They are hoping the art that goes up will encourage shoppers and neighbors to pursue healthy, just, and dignified lives.
In addition, Forecast shares some of the local history of Lund’s and Byerly’s, which started right here in Minneapolis. Lund’s and Byerly’s now runs 27 grocery stores in the area.
The deadline to apply is September 1.
